Registration has begun for the 12th annual Wichita Eagle’s Kids Fishing Clinic on June 8. Children 12 and under are eligible.

The event is again held in conjunction with the Great Plains Nature Center’s Walk With Wildlife at Chisholm Creek Park, near 29th North and Woodlawn.

Registration forms can be found in the newspaper or at The Eagle’s front counter at 825 E. Douglas.

This year’s clinic is sponsored by The Eagle and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.

Volunteers from the Flatland Fly Fishers Club, Wildlife and Parks and The Eagle will be available to assist the young anglers.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. All equipment is furnished.

Fishing is catch-and-release, and scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Signups for specific 30-minute time slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Assigned times will be mailed to participants, as will the rain date in case of postponement.

Registration ends no later than June 1, or when all slots are filled.

The fishing clinic is free after a $2 admission charge to enter the Walk With Wildlife.
