Law enforcement officials said Thursday they have arrested 81 people in the Manhattan area in connection with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine.

A news release from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said 54 search warrants were served this week throughout Junction City, Grandview Plaza, Manhattan and Ogden. A variety of narcotics and 17 firearms were seized during the arrests. Authorities said they expect more arrests in the case.

The raids ended a 13-month investigation by the Geary County Attorney’s Office, Junction City Police Department, Geary County Sheriff’s Office, Riley County Police Department, Grandview Plaza Police Department and the KBI. The investigation included the use of undercover officers, confidential informants, and surveillance.

More details are expected at a media briefing Thursday afternoon in Junction City.
