Estranged husband not happy seeing another man in wife’s Lexus

Doing a friend a favor left a woman with a wrecked car in south Wichita, police said.

The 49-year-old woman allowed a 41-year-old man to use her Lexus late Wednesday night, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. But the woman’s estranged husband saw him with the Lexus in the 1700 block of South Ellis, near Harry and Hydraulic, at around midnight and became angry.

The 33-year-old husband confronted the other man, Schroeder said, and the altercation became violent. The younger man punched his wife’s friend in the face, then reportedly tried to run him over in the Lexus.

But the driver missed the other man and struck a tree, causing “extensive damage,” Schroeder said.

He then got into his own vehicle and left the area. Police are still looking for him.
