A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse after an infant girl he had watched overnight was found to have injuries, police said.

The victim is 10 months old, said Lt. Jeff Weible of the Exploited and Missing Child Unit.

The child was brought to Wesley Medical Center and was found to have lacerations, according to a police report. Evidence was collected.

The alleged abuse occurred at a house north of 13th and Poplar.

The child’s family was interviewed at EMCU and the suspect was later arrested. He is not related to the girl, Weible said.
