A Wichita man awoke early Monday morning to discover his house had been burglarized while he slept, police said.

The 22-year-old man woke up at about 6:45 a.m. and discovered his wallet and some of his computer equipment were missing from his house in the 2300 block of West Second Street, Lt. Doug Nolte said.

He found his wallet in the backyard with cash taken from it, Nolte said. The man had left his garage door up and his kitchen door unlocked, providing the burglar with easy access to the house.

Nolte said the case serves as a reminder of the importance of locking doors to the house and keeping tabs on the garage door as well.
