A 14-year-old boy riding his bike Friday in northwest Wichita suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a vehicle, according to Sedgwick County dispatch.

The crash happened at Tyler and Westlawn at 5:20 p.m., a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. That’s south of 21st Street.

The boy was transported to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis in serious condition, authorities said; he had injuries to his lower legs.

Several people called 911 to report the collision, the dispatch supervisor said; at least one described the vehicle as an SUV.
