He thought he was meeting a young teen for sex.

But law enforcement officers were waiting for the 43-year-old man in the 1400 block of North Jeanette late Wednesday night, and he was arrested after questioning at the Exploited and Missing Child Unit.

A tip from a resident about inappropriate online activity prompted an investigation earlier this week, Lt. Jeff Weible said.

The man was “trying to lure high school-aged kids into meeting for sexual activities,” Weible said.

Investigators learned the suspect’s identity and arranged a meeting on Wednesday night.

“The suspect believed he was meeting a juvenile under the age of 14,” he said.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of criminal solicitation and aggravated criminal sodomy, records show.
