Wichita police investigating how baby boy fractured his ribs

Authorities are investigating how an infant boy suffered numerous fractured ribs over the weekend.

Police were notified after the child, who is less than a year old, was brought to Wesley Medical Center with bilateral fractures in several ribs, according to police reports. Officers were sent to the 900 block of West 54th South, which is northeast of Seneca and 55th Street South.

The infant was placed into protective custody. The Exploited and Missing Child Unit is investigating the circumstances linked to the injuries.

No arrests have been made in the case.
