A 12-year-old boy is being treated at a Wichita hospital after he was injured while riding a horse in Reno County on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies, Reno County EMS, and rural fire trucks responded to the 21000 block of west Longview Road at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday following a report that a horse had fallen on the boy, Reno County sheriff’s Capt. Wayne Baughman said in a posting on the department’s Facebook page.

The calling party thought the boy may have also been struck by a hoof in the face as well. He was flown by medical helicopter in stable condition to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
