A 35-year-old man was arrested after he tried to rob a hotel and convenience store Saturday morning, police said.

The man demanded money from a clerk at the Days Inn at 4835 S. Broadway at 7:10 a.m., but the clerk refused to give him cash, and he left. The man then tried to rob the Friendly Corner Store at 1131 E. 47th St. South, but the clerk there also refused to give him any money, police said. He was arrested after police responded to reports of the first robbery attempt.
