Three Bay mares were taken from a field near Bel Aire sometime during the last week, authorities said Wednesday.

The horses are registered and valued at $20,000 each, said Lt. David Mattingly, spokesman for the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. Each has a white facial marking – called a star – on its forehead, he said; one also has a stripe down its snout.

The mares were last seen in the field at 5200 N. Oliver and were taken sometimes between April 16 and April 22, Mattingly said.

A suspect has not been identified.
