Admission to the Sedgwick County Zoo will be free Thursday.

Meritrust is sponsoring Earth Day Kansas from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, a news release from the zoo said. Presentations about pollution, endangered species, emergency preparedness, weather and recycling will target students in third through fifth grades. The event drew more than 6,000 people last year, the release said.

Presenters this year include OxyChem’s Wichita plant, which will give information about how wetlands there were expanded. The Sedgwick County Extension Center’s Master Gardeners will talk about composting, and the Waste Control and Recycling Coalition will provide information about recycling.
