Wichita police searching for woman involved in car chase, accident

Police continued searching Monday evening for a woman involved in a high-speed chase and accident on Rock Road and Rockhill near the Bradley Fair shopping center.

Shortly after 4 p.m., police were called to 1025 N. Pinecrest, near 13th and Edgemoor, on a disturbance call, a Sedgwick 911 dispatch supervisor said. A woman reportedly was violating a protection order.

But the woman police were looking for quickly climbed into her gold Monte Carlo and nearly struck an officer while leaving the scene, the dispatcher said.

Another officer tried to follow the woman, but with speeds nearing 90 mph in heavy traffic, the chase was soon called off.

A short time later, the woman was involved in an accident near Bradley Fair when her car crashed into an SUV at the intersection of North Rock Road and Rockhill Street.

The woman fled on foot. After several hours of searching, police failed to find her.

“She is still outstanding,” the dispatcher said Monday night.
