Oxford Holdings recently acquired Gracious Senior Living, 2119 N. Broadmoor, from Broadmoor One LLC.

The facility will be called Oxford House. Oxford Holdings also owns the Glen Carr House memory care facility in Derby and is in the process of building Oxford Grand, a 77-unit assisted living and memory care community in west Wichita near NewMarket Square.

Oxford Holdings managed the facility for about a year under an agreement with Broadmoor One before acquiring the business, said Coryanne Graham, marketing and brand manager. It is still leasing the building and grounds from the company.

Oxford House consists of a clubhouse and four, eight-unit homes that hold up to 32 residents. Each home includes individual rooms with private bathrooms that circle a common kitchen and dining area. There is also a living room, den and beauty parlor. The facility was built in 2010.

Each home has a certified medication aide and certified nurse aide on site 24 hours a day, said Wayne Cash, the new community director at Oxford House.

As part of the acquisition, Cash said the company has decided to make some changes. To facilitate that, they are bringing on a life enrichment coordinator.

“The only thing that should change when somebody moves here is their address and we come alongside and give them the quality of life that they want,” Cash said. “We we’re putting the systems in place to make that happen.”

At the beginning of May, they plan to use a new system for electronic medication management, Cash said, and they hope to move away from timed planned activities and instead personalize interactions for residents based on their interests.

They also plan to implement “natural awakening,” as opposed to the practice of waking all residents at the same time every morning.

Most residents in the homes are between 85 and 97 years old, Cash said.

Oxford House plans an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 16. For information, contact Leslie Marshall at 316-706-0857 or lmarshall@oxfordholdings.com.
