Opinion Line Extra (April 22)

If cutting taxes creates jobs, shouldn’t having no taxes at all mean full employment? So let’s eliminate all taxes so we can have zero percent unemployment.

If we would kick out all the illegal aliens in this country, unemployment would go down to 4 percent.

Thank you to all who pay their income taxes, Social Security, health insurance premiums, 401(k) contributions, buy their homes and pay their mortgages, pay their property tax, buy their groceries, care for and educate their children, and spend everything they earn, and pay the sales tax on that, too.

Two different policy institutes think Gov. Sam Brownback’s tax reforms are nuts? So tell us something we don’t know. It’s just too bad I can’t count on my fellow Kansans to realize they’ve been had and join me in voting against him in 2014.

When I drive past your house and see multiple cars, I wonder how you’re keeping insurance on all of them plus homeowners’ insurance. My paycheck can’t keep up with rising insurance costs.

If you are the guy who wants to intimidate me by sitting 2 feet off my bumper, prepare to sit for a while through a green light.

When stopping behind another vehicle already stopped at a traffic light, a good defensive driver will leave sufficient distance between the car in front to prevent getting sandwiched if rear-ended by a third vehicle. Two feet is not a sufficient distance.

To the guy who said he’d be 2 foot off my bumper in traffic while I keep a safe distance from the car ahead of me: Remember that if I decide not to move or my car stalls in front of you, you’re stuck. Hope you’re not in a hurry.

Ride my bumper and I will slow to a crawl and stop 10 car lengths behind the car ahead of me at a traffic light. You have no right to endanger me like that.

Yes, the “gun lobby” and the NRA are powerful. That’s because so many Americans support them.

Guns aren’t the problem. Bombs are the problem. Time for stricter bomb-control laws.

So many Kansans are pro-birth, not pro-life. If they were pro-life, they would care about how to feed, clothe, educate and house these children with their tax dollars.

Peace and love should always be our goal, but evil will always be lurking right below the surface. Beirut, Baghdad and now Boston.
