  • Published Sunday, April 21, 2013, at 7:32 p.m.

Wichita police are investigating a motel robbery that happened early Sunday morning at 465 S. Webb Road.

The robbery happened at 2 a.m. Sunday at the Motel 6.

A 22-year-old woman was working the front desk when a man wearing a large black coat, a medium-length dark wig and dark glasses entered the motel and asked for towels, according to Sgt. Scott Brunow, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

Thinking he was customer, the clerk opened the door to hand the man towels.

Instead, the man forced his way through the door with a handgun and demanded the motel’s money. He took the cash and left on foot.

No vehicle was seen.

Police are using the motel’s surveillance video to help identify the robber.
