Shockers win MVC tennis title

Wichita State’s women’s tennis team won its fifth straight Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title on Sunday, defeating Southern Illinois 7-0 in Carbondale, Ill.

The Shockers (12-10, 7-0 MVC) earned the top seed in the conference tournament, which begins Friday at the Coleman Tennis Complex. SIU (17-4, 6-1) will be the second seed.

WSU’s Rebecca Pedrazzi defeated Melanie Deslart 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Lucia Kovalova and Veronika Blaskova won the No. 1 doubles match 9-7 over Delsart and Anastacia Simons.
