Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sedgwick County, the Arc of Sedgwick County and Starkey each received a check Thursday for $27,700.
The checks were the proceeds from January’s Starbird-Devlin Car Show.
“The Starbird Show is a tradition in Wichita since 1957,” said Tim Devlin, president of Cars for Charities for Wichita. “In 2011, when Cars for Charity was able to take over the event, our main goal was to give back to the community as well as bring new life to the show.”
Dan Soliday, president and CEO of Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters, said the money will be used to match 27 children.
“It makes a very real difference, not only for our organization but for the kids in our community,” Soliday said.
The 2014 show is scheduled for Jan. 17-19 at Century II.
