State AG warns of charitable scams after Boston bombing

Kansans who decide to donate money in the wake of Monday's Boston Marathon bombing should consider giving to established organizations, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

That's because scam artists sometimes try to take advantage of such tragedies.

Schmidt urged people to be cautious of door-to-door solicitations as well as those that request wire transfers.

The state has a website to check on charities that also offers tips about donating money to charitable organizations at http://www.kscharitycheck.org/.
