President Obama has canceled plans to visit the University of Kansas on Friday because he will be in Boston later this week, the White House announced Tuesday.

Obama will speak Thursday at an interfaith service dedicated to those were injured or killed in Monday’s bombing at the Boston Marathon.

White House officials had announced Saturday that Obama would be coming to KU. The specific reason for him coming was never announced.
