Airbus Americas Engineering is adding 10,000 square feet to its Old Town engineering facility.

The expansion will start May 1. The new building is adjacent to Airbus’ existing buildings and will share Airbus’ North Mead address. It was previously occupied by another company and its interior is being refurbished to match Airbus’ other offices.

“When we expanded to 238 N. Mead in 2012 we expected to add 100 jobs; we have since increased by about 150,” John O’Leary, vice president of engineering for Airbus Americas, said in a statement. “The new building will give us 10,000 square feet which we will use to give more space to our current employees, and allow for future growth.”

Airbus Americas in Wichita currently employs about 400 people in engineering and support functions focused on airframe design and analysis for wing structures on Airbus aircraft.
