Wild goes over the Edge

Tim Simmons and Joe Kassanavoid each caught two touchdown passes to help the Wild beat the Edge 49-35 on Friday night in Bloomington, Ill.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Wild scored three touchdowns and added two safeties in the second period, building a 23-9 halftime advantage.

The Edge pulled within 26-22 in the third quarter before Tywon Hubbard returned a kickoff for a touchdown to rebuild a 10-point lead.

Kassanavoid and Simmons each had a TD reception in the fourth quarter, helping the Wild go ahead 46-29 with 3:38 left to play.

Hubbard rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown. Ricky Hinds completed 13 of 23 passes for 123 yards and four TDs, but was intercepted three times.

The Wild defense also picked off three passes, one each for Dan Kontz, Kendrick Harper and Chris Hemphill.

Wichita improved to 5-1 with the win. Omaha, the only undefeated team in the CPIFL, plays Saturday night. The Wild plays host to the Beef a week from Saturday.
