Opinion Line Extra (April 12)

Gov. Sam Brownback hunting for turkeys? Write your own joke.

During the annual Governor’s Turkey Hunt, I’m sure Brownback will focus his aim on the left wing of his turkey.

Good students are often bored to death in schools where the work is geared to the lowest common denominator, and it is by no means uncommon for very bright students to become behavior problems.

As a voter, I have to wonder how long Congress is going to allow the NRA so much power. I am watching and waiting for someone to tell the NRA to sit down and shut up. If my senators and representatives do not, then my vote for them will go away.

I hope Sen. Jerry Moran does what he has to do to protect our Second Amendment, our freedom. Those who don’t want him to are more than likely in Obama’s pocket to get all the free stuff he has to offer.

Columnist Cal Thomas, who helped make Terri Schiavo a household name, thinks emotional outrage over murdered children is being used to manipulate our political system? Wow. My head just exploded.

Only emotional people believe that enacting laws making it difficult for law-abiding citizens to buy, own and shoot guns will make us more safe. Criminals will always find ways to get guns, so gun bans make us much more vulnerable.

Get serious, people. Jesus never said we should donate to the government so that the government could take care of the widows and orphans. He told us that we should do it. It is a personal responsibility.

A reader stated that the Blue Angels were grounded because of budget issues. They were grounded because Obama wants to make a political point. There was no budget cut. We just slowed the rate of growth by a small amount.

The drug industry is taking lessons from the oil industry. For years, the cash price (no insurance) for a one-month supply of a certain antibiotic was $4. Last month the price shot up to more than $200. Whose interests are running this country?

I’m glad to see Wichita’s “leaders” taking such an interest in bicycle and walking paths, because when they and the rest of the politicians get done with the taxpayers. the haves will be riding bicycles and the have-nots will be walking.

Regarding April 10 Opinion Line: Seriously, does anyone really believe coach Gregg Marshall promotes angry driving? To suggest that, KU supporters must really be jealous over the success WSU is enjoying.
