Union State Bank said Thursday that Bill Docking will step down as CEO early next year, after serving in the post for nearly three decades.

Eric Kurtz, president of the Arkansas City-based bank, will become its new CEO. Docking will remain as chairman.

“For more than 55 years, a Docking family member has served as USB’s CEO,” Bill Docking said in a news release. His father, Gov. Robert Docking, was CEO from 1957 until his death in 1983. “The time is right to establish the next generation of leadership.”

Bill Docking assumed the CEO role after his father’s death.

The $240 million bank operates an office in Wichita.
