I am very proud of the Wichita State University Shockers and Gregg Marshall for a very good game against the No. 1-seeded Cardinals, even though it had to be one of the worst-officiated games in recent NCAA history. Next year.

Watching Wichita State was like watching “Rocky.” The underdog who never gave up. Congratulations on an outstanding tournament. You did Wichita and Kansas proud.

For nearly 100 years a jump ball was the resolution to a held ball, and “held” meant more than a split second of grasp by a defender. Late in their Final Four game, the Shockers fell victim to both a referee’s bad call and a bad NCAA possession arrow rule.

The Kansas teams that played in the NCAA basketball tournament were not beaten by the teams they played but by the referees.

I am so tired of the government (mostly men) telling women what to do with their bodies. Raped by a stranger? No abortion for you. Raped by a family member? No abortion for you. The new director of the clinic previously owned by George Tiller must be a very courageous and determined woman.

The increase in support for same-sex marriage reflects growth in atheism and secularism and the denial of moral absolutes. Greed, violence, promiscuity and abortion all flourish with refusal to believe in transcendent authority, which has always been the bedrock of our culture. God save this republic.

Gee – I wonder how much money (that it doesn’t have) the government spent relabeling our meat so us dummies can tell what cut we are getting.

From the comments in the Opinion Line, it’s easy to identify those who get their information and live in the worldview bubble of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. It’s rather analogous to an ostrich with its head stuck in the ground.

People who think everything is “peachy keen” in spite of what Fox News reports need to talk to a few of the 23 million who are unemployed or underemployed. They may learn something – unless they refuse to accept facts about this administration they elected and the liberal-biased media outlets.

North Korea, Iran, Egypt, Syria and many other countries are in a world of hurt. America has always been the world’s policeman. Why have we changed? Someday we are going to need help, and no one will be there for us. We need a leader in a bad way before it is too late.

We’re considering asking our family doctor if he would be willing to perform minor surgical procedures on our pets. His fees are much more reasonable than those of the veterinarians in this town.
