A Lawrence man died Saturday after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on the Kansas Turnpike in Topeka, according to a crash report.

The 59-year-old was driving a 2009 Harley-Davidson eastbound when the crash occurred at 5:44 p.m. Another motorcyclist and a third vehicle following the man braked to try to avoid a collision but lost control and also crashed, according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority.

The 59-year-old died as a result of his injuries; the other motorcyclist — a 43-year-old Topeka man — also was hurt, the KTA reports.

The name of the deceased man has not been released.
