A man found dead in a drainage canal at Pinecrest and Orme is 71-year-old Clinton Marland, a police report shows.

Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte, who confirmed the man’s identity, said foul play is not suspected in his death.

Marland’s body was found March 30 by two children playing in the nearly dry drainage canal. Neighbors in the area told police they saw the 71-year-old walking in the area recently, but not the day his body was found.

There was no apparent trauma to Marland’s body, a police report shows. Nolte said Friday he didn’t know where Marland was from.
