Any 1942 model automobile is a rare find, since U.S. auto production shut down and shifted to producing planes, tanks and other war materiel during World War II. The family of Lester Seltzer, who bought this car '42 Studebaker Champion brand new, have kept it titled and insured ever since. Whoever buys it at the Mennonite Relief Sale auction on April 13 will be the second owner of this all-original, running, driving beauty.
Jerry Toews, who volunteers to get all the vehicles in shape for the sale each year, gives granddaughter Lena Mendoza-Toews a ride on a restored 1952 Ford 8N tractor. The fully restored machine was donated by Ed Landis of Abilene.
