Kansas ranked seventh among states on Thumbtack.com’s Small Business Survey, receiving an overall grade of an “A” for Small Business Friendliness, up from an “A-” in 2012.

The survey, in cooperation with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation., is based on data gathered from a nationwide group of small business owners, freelancers and entrepreneurs.

Kansas scored an “A” for ease of starting a new business, A- in its licensing and environmental regulations, B+ in tax code, regulations, employment, labor and hiring and zoning regulations.
