A resident awoke at about 4:10 a.m. Tuesday to the sound of someone walking in his family’s house in the 10000 block of East Lockmoor and saw a burglar leave through the front door, police said.

There were six people, ages 20 to 58, inside when the burglar came in, apparently through an unlocked garage door, Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte said.

The burglar was described as a white man, about 30 years old, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds and wearing a dark jacket, brown shirt, blue jeans and black stocking cap and carrying a red backpack taken from the home, near Harry and Webb Road. He left in a white four-door vehicle occupied by a second suspect.

The loss included small personal property and a laptop.
