A car crashed into the lobby of an insurance office in west Wichita on Monday morning.

Nobody inside the car or the office was hurt.

Shon Chapman, the agent at the American Family Insurance office at 11940 W. Central, said the woman who was driving the car apparently stepped on the wrong pedal in the parking lot outside the building. The car smashed through the glass door and window of the office, and took out part of a brick wall, he said.

The entire car, except for its taillights, ended up in his reception area, Chapman said.

The car also took out a couch where customers usually sit, he said. Nobody was sitting on the couch at the time.

A couple of staff members who work in the lobby were shaken by the crash, so he sent them home for the day, he said.

Chapman said the driver was insured, but not by him.

“That would really be upsetting, to get hit by my own insured,” Chapman said.
