Someone looted four units at a storage facility near 6000 S. Oliver, and the loss from only two of the units is estimated at about $60,000, a sheriff’s official said Monday.

Someone broke into the storage units and stole the items Sunday.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying three “persons of interest,” the office said in an e-mail news release Monday afternoon that included surveillance photos of people and vehicles at the storage units. The office said the three people are being sought for questioning related to the burglaries.

The office provided a description of three vehicles that might have been used in the burglaries: a white 1990’s Ford Explorer, a white late-1980’s Ford pickup and a white mid-1990’s Oldsmobile Delta 88.

The loss will grow as investigators determine how much was stolen from the other two units, sheriff’s Lt. David Mattingly said.

Among the items taken: a drum set, a Tiffany cake set, a large amount of Craftsman power and hand tools and an “angler’s paradise” including a Johnson outboard motor, Mercury outboard motor, trolling motors and rods and reels, Mattingly said.

He asked that anyone with information about the crimes call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111 or sheriff’s investigators at 316-660-5300.

As of Monday afternoon, authorities had been unable to reach owners of the items in the other two storage units, he said.
