Police are searching for a suspect who fired several bullets into a house in southwest Wichita early Sunday, injuring an 18-year-old man who was standing in the doorway.

Wichita police Sgt. Scott Brunow said dispatchers received reports that a 25-year-old man walking in the 1000 block of South Everett, near McCormick and Meridian, “pulled out a handgun and fired five to seven rounds at a residence.”

A man standing in the doorway was hit in the left leg by debris from bullets hitting the glass and door frame, Brunow said. Six other people, who range in age from 14 to 35, were inside the house but were not injured, he said.

The suspect is thought to have left the area in a small white pickup, Brunow said.
