A bicyclist suffered critical injuries in a collision with an SUV around 4 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Wichita police Capt. Hassan Ramzah told reporters at the scene that the SUV had been southbound on Oliver and the bicyclist had been crossing the road to head east on 12th Street when the crash occurred.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was transported to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, Ramzah said.

No one else was hurt, he said.
