I’m starting to see some of the plant stores built in the parking lots – a sign of spring. I like annuals as much as the next guy, but what you plant you must water.

Conservatives no longer believe in the American dream. They think America’s best days are behind us, and they’re electing politicians out to prove it. Kansans can stop one such politician in his tracks by denying Gov. Sam Brownback a second term in office and thereby a chance at the presidency.

We jokingly say that we want the best Legislature that money can buy. Well, it seems that now we either have the worst or that we, the voters, aren’t the ones doing the buying.

I am curious as to which Kansas legislative races show campaign contributions from the guy who once ran dog races in Wichita. We weren’t confused about slot machines, and we voted “no.” Why can’t he let the issue go?

It makes no sense for anyone to be all liberal, all conservative or all moderate on all political and social issues. Each issue should be judged on its own merits. Ask yourself: Will it work or not, and why? What is best for the nation?

Why are all the female cheerleaders wearing big bows in their hair? Are they trying to look like little 6-year-olds?

No matter the weather, The Eagle is on my driveway every morning, ready for me to read with my coffee. Brandon Leep: You are the best.

I saw the Sunday matinee of “Hello, Dolly!” at the Forum Theatre. Don’t miss this terrific production.
