Thunder beats Tulsa, moves within one point of first

The Thunder beat the Oilers 5-2 in Tulsa on Saturday night, and stayed alive in the race for first play in the CHL heading into the final day of the regular season.

Wichita is one point behind Allen in the CHL standings after the Americans lost to the Missouri Mavericks 4-0 in Allen, Texas.

Allen pays at Tulsa on Sunday. The Thunder plays host to the Mavericks at Intrust Bank Arena.

On Saturday, Chad Painchaud scored two goals and Eric Lizon got his first goal of the season to spark the Thunder attack. Kevin Young scored his 22nd goal, tying the Thunder season record for goals by a defenseman.

There were only three penalties in the game, all Thunder minors.

Tulsa had a pregame ceremony to honor defenseman Tyler Fleck, who is retiring after 773 minor league games.
