Study says Koch businesses create $4 billion economic impact

Koch companies employed more than 47,000 people across the United States in 2012, and paid them a total of more than $4 billion according to a study by Harrah Analytics.

According to a news release from Wichita-based Koch Industries, the direct and indirect impacts of Koch companies total 191,000 jobs and earnings of about $11 billion.

The top states in terms of direct and indirect jobs are:

• Georgia (6,972 direct; 28,320 indirect);

• Texas (6,557 direct; 37,679 indirect);

• Kansas (2,897 direct; 6,459 indirect);

• Wisconsin (2,827 direct; 10,344 indirect);

• Arkansas (2,624 direct; 9,214 indirect).

Kansas also ranked third in terms of compensation and benefits, with $371 million in direct payments and $600 million in indirect benefits.
