Matt Robinson’s goal with 1 minute, 12 seconds left in the third period gave the Thunder a 4-3 victory over the Allen Americans on Tuesday night in Allen, Texas.
The win pulled the Thunder within two points of the first-place Americans in the CHL standings. Each team has three games remaining. The meet again Friday in Wichita.
The Thunder scored the game’s first three goals, but Allen drew even with three goals in 10 minutes during the second period.
Ian Lowe and Neil Trimm each had a goal and an assist.
Wight honored — Thunder defenseman Travis Wight was chosen CHL Man of the Year on Tuesday. The award is “presented annually to the Central Hockey League player adjudged to have best exemplified strong leadership qualities on and off the ice, while making significant and noteworthy humanitarian contributions to his community.”
