Kansas Big Brothers and Big Sisters is hoping its plan for a reunion will land it $25,000.
The Wichita-based nonprofit is taking part in a contest to see how many former Bigs and Littles it can reunite before March 31, a spokeswoman said. The winner will receive a $25,000 grant from the national organization.
The competition is between branches across the country. How creative the individual agencies are in recruiting alumni also figures into the criteria for claiming the grant.
Anyone interested in reconnecting and being counted – either as an alum or one who was mentored – in the totals may do so by registering at www.reunitenow.org.
Over the past 44 years, Sedgwick County Big Brothers Big Sisters has served more than 30,000 children, the organization said. Currently, the Kansas chapter of the group is serving nearly 6,000 children.
