The Chiefs were awarded draft choices at the end of the third and sixth rounds as the NFL handed out its compensatory picks for last year's activity involving unrestricted free agents.

The Chiefs lost cornerback Brandon Carr, fullback Le'Ron McClain, quarterback Kyle Orton and offensive tackle Barry Richardson. They signed running back Peyton Hillis and quarterback Brady Quinn.

The Chiefs now have eight picks. They have two selections in the third and sixth rounds but none in the second after sending that pick to the 49ers as part of the trade that brought quarterback Alex Smith.
