Late goal sinks Thunder on road

Arizona’s Chad Nehring scored with 1:03 left in the game to lift the Sundogs to a 4-3 win over the Wichita Thunder on Friday night in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Wichita led 2-0 in the first period after goals from Kevin Young and Ian Lowe, but Arizona rallied with a goal from Nehring to make the score 2-1 after the first period and 3-2 after the second period.

Wichita tied the score at 3-3 with 3:13 left in the third period on a goal from Matt Summers before Nehring’s late-game heroics.

Torrie Jung was the losing goalie for Wichita, posting 26 saves on 30 shots. Former Thunder goalie Adam Russo got the win for Arizona with 21 saves on 24 shots.

The Thunder gets a rematch tonight against Arizona and play at Allen on Tuesday before returning to Intrust Bank Arena next Friday for another game against Allen.
