Mark Marney, who helped found the Golf Warehouse in Wichita, is part of a group of investors that has acquired Team Express Distributing, owner of BaseballExpress.com, Softball.com, FootballAmerica.com and TeamExpress.com.

Marney is CEO of the San Antonio-based online business and works from there.

Team Express, established in 1990, is a multi-channel sporting goods retailer that sells to individuals, as well as teams and leagues. The new owners will expand existing soccer and basketball operations, and explore entry into hockey, lacrosse, rugby and other sports.

“By modernizing our infrastructure, enhancing websites, intensifying marketing and creating even stronger inventory management, we have an amazing platform for significant business lift,” Marney said, in a statement.

Marney, along with brothers Mike and Richard founded the Golf Warehouse in 1997 and, after selling a majority stake, managed it until 2009.
