Wichita weather: Record high likely

The Ides of March will be mighty toasty in the Wichita area.

They’ll be so warm, in fact, that records may fall. Forecasters say highs could climb into the low 80s. Wichita’s record high for March 15 is 81, set 99 years ago.

Temperatures will be boosted by sunny skies and south-southwest winds that will blow steadily in the teens and gust above 25 miles an hour.

Lows will settle in the mid-40s tonight, forecasters say, before more seasonal temperatures – and chances for rain – arrive for the weekend.
