Five teens suffered injuries Wednesday after an 18-year-old driver lost control while negotiating a curve and overturned his truck on an Atchison County road, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

The impact ejected the driver and other teens, who were riding in the bed of the 2000 Ford F150, KHP reports.

Four of those injured, ages 16-18, were taken to Atchison Memorial Hospital for treatment; a 17-year-old was hospitalized at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, the highway patrol said. The other teen, 17, was not hurt.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Jackson Park Road in Jackson Park, located in Atchison.

The teens – all males – are Atchison residents, KHP said.
