Maize schools’ director of communications resigns

Karen McDermott, director of communications for Maize schools, will leave the post in June.

McDermott, who has served as the district’s primary spokeswoman since 2000, submitted her resignation Tuesday but will work through the end of her contract. Her current salary is $79,225, according to district records.

She said she plans to move to Oklahoma City with her husband, who works in aviation and was transferred there.
