Fernandez joined Jajo last month after working as a freelancer for most of the past decade.
“Jajo had a pretty great-looking portfolio, and it was a cool-looking place to work,” he said.
Fernandez, 29, grew up in Newton. He studied at Wichita Area Technical College and Friends University.
“I just love painting, drawing and stuff like that,” he said.
He worked remotely from Newton for Upstairs Records Inc. in the San Francisco Bay area, developing HTML websites and branding for musicians. He also helped start VOX Creatives and has done content work for Axon Displays.
At Jajo, he said, his job will be “basically front-end website development” for the agency’s clients.
Fernandez and his wife, Adriana, live in Newton with their seven children.
“The things that I like are just soccer, family and Sundays,” he said.
