The Kansas State University Agricultural Experiment Station and Cooperative Extension Service is hosting a Southern Plains Drought Summit March 27 at the Pratt County Fairgrounds in the 4-H Center.
Although recent snows and rains have helped provide some moisture, it is not enough to relieve the drought conditions of the last two years. The conference is designed to help people in agriculture make decisions on how to survive the drought.
Cost is $10. Reservations must be made by 5 p.m. March 22; afterward the cost is $20 and can be purchased at the door. The program begins at 10 a.m.
Topics include crop assessment tools and techniques; insurance and economic considerations; drought adjustments for range and pasture; water quality, and poisonous plant issues.
