A Salina man was sentenced Monday to one year of federal probation for selling a misbranded drug.
Erick Srack, 44, admitted that while he owned The Grind in Salina, he sold Aromatic Potpourri, which contained synthetic chemicals generally known as “JWH compounds” that mimicked the effects of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
He pleaded guilty to one count of introducing a misbranded drug into interstate commerce, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office said in a news release.
Aromatic Potpourri was intended to be smoked. Srack sold it in plastic bags with a paper label. The label did not list JWH compounds among the ingredients.
A federal law requires that drugs be labeled so that a lay person can administer the drug safely, Grissom’s office said.
Srack is already serving a prison sentence after being convicted in state district court of selling illegal drugs.
