Magazine scores Kansas 13th for economic development projects

Site Selection Magazine reports that Kansas finished first in its region and 13th in the country for economic development projects in 2012.

According to the magazine, the state had 122 projects in 2012. They included 17 new manufacturing facilities, 32 manufacturing expansions and the remaining 73 were in other categories, including offices, headquarters, distribution centers, research and development facilities and mixed-use facilities.

Last year, Kansas won more projects than nearby states Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, according to the magazine.

Texas, which led the nation, had 761.
