Fort Worth beat the Thunder 3-2 in a shootout Wednesday night in Fort Worth.
All four goals in regulation came in the second period. Wichita’s Neil Trimm scored at 3:07. Fort Worth tied the score at 10:39 on a goal from Brendon Hodge, then took a 2-1 lead with a power-play goal by Phil Fox at 18:40. The Thunder pulled even 40 seconds later with Kevin Young scored.
In the shootout, Fort Worth’s first two shooters scored while the Thunder’s first four shooters all failed to beat Brahmas goalie Kristofer Westblom.
Fort Worth moved into second place in the CHL standings, one point ahead of Wichita. The Brahmas have played one game more than the Thunder. Wichita returns to Intrust Bank Arena for games Friday and Saturday against Denver and Tulsa.
